Yamarita or battered yam is basically cooked yam that is dipped in eggs, coated with flour and then fried. It is very easy to make, so if you love fried yam, you can take up your fried yam game and make this yamarita 🙂

Step 1. Slice the yam into any shape of choice, wash, add it to a pot.
Step 2. Season with salt and boil the yam until it is done.
***You can also boil the yam with any spices you want in addition to salt.
Step 3. Once the yam is done, add flour to a bowl, season with salt and pepper, add the beaten eggs to another bowl, season with a pinch of salt or pepper.
***If your boiled yam is well salted already, you can skip the salt and just add pepper.
Step 4. Dip the yam into the eggs entirely, then coat it thoroughly with flour.
***Repeat until you have dipped and coated all your yams.
Step 5. Add oil to a pan, heat up, carefully add in the yam pieces and fry until they have browned.
Place fried yams on a paper towel to drain off any excess oil and serve immediately. I served mine with peppered ponmo, you can serve with any sauce of choice.
