- Zobo Leaf5 CupsDried Hibiscus Leaves
- Water5 Litres
- Zobo Seeds10 Pieces
- Zobo Flavour3 Packets
- Pineapple2 Slices
- Ginger4 Pieces
- Sugar SyrupHalf Cups
Step 1 :
Add 5 litres of water to a pot and allow it to boil.
Step 2 :
Wash the zobo leaves thoroughly in cold water to get rid of dirt and sand, put the washed zobo leaves into the boiling water, crush the ginger and the zobo seed and add into the pot, slice the pineapple into small sizes and add it to the pot. Allow everything to cook for 30 minutes max.
Step 3 :
Using a fine sieve, strain the red zobo liquid from the zobo chaff into a clean bowl, add some clean water to the zobo chaff to further extract some liquid / juice remnant. Discard the chaff.
Step 4 :
Heat up an empty pan, add the half cup of sugar syrup and let it dissolve. Add it immediately to the already sieved zobo juice and stir.
Step 5 :
Add all the zobo flavour you would be using to the already sieved zobo, stir and refrigerate for a while and serve.
So you see, it’s that easy to make, enjoy your Hibiscus Sabdariffa otherwise known as zobo drink by Hausas in the Northern part of Nigeria.
